Just finished my morning book of, “You Can’t Hurt Me” by David Goggins (ex. Navy Seal who broke the world record of pull ups with 4,030).

Hands down one of my favorite books on Mental Toughness and I highly recommend it.

Here’s a few takeaways:

#1. Most people give up when we’re around 40% of our maximum effort. Goggins calls this the 40% Rule.

There will always be challenges that will tempt us to give up. But you can slowly tap into your reserve 60 percent if you understand the power of your mind.

#2. There’s always more to be done. Life doesn’t have a finish line.

#3. For one week, take detailed notes about how you spend your time.

In week two, build an optimal schedule.

By week three, you should have a working schedule that maximizes your effort without sacrificing sleep.

#4. The most important conversations are the ones you have with yourself. When obstacles get in your way, challenge them with one simple question – what if?

#5. Taking Souls

Identify a competitive situation. Who are you competing against? Earn their respect with excellence. Work harder than you’ve ever worked before.

Crush their standards. Take their negativity and use it dominate their task with everything you’ve got.

Have your doubters watch you achieve something they could have never even done themselves. Have them see how INCREDIBLE you are.

#6. The Cookie Jar

Write down all of your life obstacles, including minor failures, that you turned into successes(these are cookies). Feel what it was like to overcome those struggles, those opponents, and win(adding them to your jar). Then get to work!

The point is to remember what you were once capable of doing and channeling that energy to succeed again!

#7. Callous Your Mind

Write in your journal all of the things you don’t like to do and the things that make you feel uncomfortable. Do one of them every day.

Do something that sucks every day, slowly creating a more productive, can-do mentality when encountering stressful situations. This is how you callous your mind.

There’s more, but I’ll end it here for now. Hands down one of the best books on Mental Toughness I’ve ever read.

Have you read it yet? If so, what are some of your takeaways and which of these that are shared are your favorite(that you’re gonna implement)?
